Desert Christian Academy is not only the high school I graduated from but also the middle school where I rededicated my life to following Christ, the elementary that gave me a solid Christian education, and a preschool that started it all. This school was the foundation on which my journey with Christ began.

Northwest University is the second school where God wanted me. This university is allowing me to expand my horizons and leading me to discover the person God wants me to be. I have never been in an environment quite like Northwest. The presence of God is everywhere! This place is where God needed me to be, He has been revealing things as I listen to His voice.

Church 212 has had such an impact on my life. This church has given me a place to learn more about God in a multitude of ways. I began going to their youth group in 8th grade and continued going until I graduated high school. The people from there poured into me, things I needed to be who I am today. When I started writing “Recognize,” Jeremy Carrol helped me edit it all.

Fred Jordan Missions opened up the doors for my love for missions, serving and God’s people. I was entering my sophomore year of high school and really wanted to be used by God in a spectacular way. I took a trip with my school to Downtown Los Angeles. This is where I did most of my street evangelizing to the homeless. We walked streets upon streets of tents that people were calling home. Being able to love on them for a week really opened up my eyes and heart to continue serving.

This is the local hospital in my hometown and I learned so much from my time there. I was a junior volunteer for three consecutive summers and worked alongside nurses in different areas. My late mentor, friend and volunteer coordinator, Donnie Shafer, believed in showing teens how to care for people. That is exactly what I learned! God gave me the opportunity to help people in a very vulnerable state: a hospital setting. I had specific jobs that included discharging patients, making and changing beds, and organizing charts. This program, along with fellow volunteers and nurses taught me that I can serve in more ways than one.

Concordia Language Villages is where I spent a week during the summer of 2016 learning all about the spanish language. This was really the first stepping stone of fully trusting God with something. We couldn’t speak in english because it was full immersion into learning a new language. God used it as a gateway into new cultures which would help me adapt to environments while on mission trips across the world.

Growing up I was a competitive swimmer. I started when I was eight years old and had many people who believed in me. This one coach in particular though saw a fire in me and allowed me to follow that dream of swimming in high school. Coach Alicia Chatigny allowed me to stay at Desert Christian while also swimming competitively for my high school. I trained with her team, traveled to and from meets and used a lane so that I was able to compete for my high school. Even though I am no longer swimming I cannot thank her enough for training me to never give up on the dreams I have even if they’re only for one season of life.

Pepperdine’s Youth Citizenship Seminar was a truly life changing experience. It was five summer days before entering my senior year that were packed with hearing from keynote speakers, analyzing in a small group setting and participating in workshops. This was all about leadership. I was put with an amazing group of students who were all goal oriented and built by God to change the world. Without this week at YCS I would not have the confidence in myself and others to move forward with achieving all that I have been able to.

Located in DePere, Wisconsin, Rock and Body Shop was the first independent retail store to display and sell “Recognize”. This store is amazing and so is my beautiful cousin Anna Manzetti who has put her heart and soul into its success! Good vibes abound at Rock and Body Shop. Check it out if you’re ever in Northern Wisconsin!
